I'm not sure! To be honest, I don't think there was any one specific event. Watching Thomas as a child probably helped; a couple of successful visits to railway-themed attractions probably helped; and a lot of fun with Railroad Tycoon II probably helped. It was a combination of small things, rather than one big thing.
